Speakers Bureau

GUIDE FOR SETTING UP LECTURES AND DEMONSTRATIONS

Search the Speakers Bureau listing for individuals who can speak within your county and who can address the topic in which you have an interest.

Make sure that presenter knows:

  • Date, time and location of presentation (send map with confirmation letter)
  • Time allotment
  • Equipment constraints, if applicable
  • Desired topic and target audience
  • Number of attendees anticipated

Offer to cover travel and administrative expenses whenever possible. If not possible, offer other compensation, such as a complementary dinner, organization decal, etc.

Find out and provide for the equipment needs of the presenter.

Advertise your event in newsletters and flyers, and through local media, listservs and email distribution lists.

Twenty minutes before presentation:

  1. Provide presenter with water if desired.
  2. Ask if they would like to be informed of time points during presentation.
  3. Get slides or Power Point presentation loaded, adjust settings, and test remote controls to assure smooth operations.
  4. Provide proper introduction of presenter, including name, title, affiliation and current projects/interests.
  5. Provide five or ten minutes for questions at end of presentation.
  6. Thank presenter. Instigate applause if appropriate.
